I know this isn't strictly a post announcing a sail, but it does relate to selling so figured this board was appropriate.
I'm really considering selling my Macbook if I can't just get it fixed under warranty. As I mentioned in the previous thread, it was bought in December of 2007. I have all the Leopard disks and documentation for it, even a nice bag that we got. The adapter's a bit messed up and only charges the machine when it's off. If you try to charge it when it's on, it'll act as if there's no adapter plugged into it. However, I'm using a different adapter that I borrowed from a family member and it works fine with that one. As I said today, the built-in keyboard isn't working, but the external one works fine for the most part. I'm just not sure what to do about my Acapella Dimitris voice and my Tapedeck (both are legal and registered). If I uninstall them or do a reinstall of Leopard, will I still be able to use them on another system? Anyway, how much is this worth? We originally bought it for about $1,700, but that was with the Apple Care plan and considering the problems it now has and how old it is, I know I can't sell it for anywhere near that price. So what's a good asking price to start?Eleni
will the apple care cover the internal keyboard since it should cover you for another year or so? I purchased a macbook from craigslist about two months ago for $600 and it was only about 8 months old. with the issues you describe I'd not expect to get any more than this.
Your apple care should still cover you. Call their tech support. They're very nice and responsive. I got my MB around the same time as you. I called today because my adapter isn't working, and a new one has already been shipped out to me. I should get it tomorrow. Whole experience was very pleasant and didn't cost me anything.
Yay! Will do. I just hope i didn't do something to it without realising it. this is the second time this has happened and also the second adapter that got ruined.
considering the new macs and macbooks price have drop in the last 2 years, and the condition you describe, i don't think you can get anything for more than $500.
approach the apple care team, they are as helpful as they are. it might be something wrong with the setting on system prefference, it might be hardware faillier.
